Pacifica to shuttle Spitfire players to Memorial Cup games
Chrysler Pacifica becomes the official vehicle of the upcoming Memorial Cup in Windsor
The Chrysler Pacifica, now the official vehicle of the Memorial Cup, will be used to shuttle Windsor Spitfire players to and from the WFCU Centre throughout the junior hockey tournament.
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles announced the new sponsorship with the Windsor Spitfires on Friday. The two groups said the deal was a natural fit, spurred on by the recent launch of the Pacifica and the Memorial Cup coming to Windsor.
"We definitely have the winning combination on our hands," said William Levasseur, vice president sales and marketing with FCA. "Any time you have two fan favourites like Canada's favourite minivan and Canada's favourite sport is a recipe for success."
The Spitfires will have more than 30 Pacificas bringing team players and executives to and from the arena, and to any other event held throughout the tournament that runs May 18-28.
Having a sponsorship with FCA helps the city put a stamp on the Memorial Cup, explained Bob Boughner, Spitfires team president.
"I'm very happy, I'm very proud to have the Windsor Spitfires associated with FCA," he said. "I guess you could call me a bit of a Chrysler kid growing up, my family all worked there."
