OPP identify mother and son from Amherstburg killed in six-vehicle crash near Chatham

A tractor trailer heading west collided with several vehicles that were stopped on the road. Traffic had been backed up because of another collision, according to Ontario Provincial Police.

Lacie Brundritt, 42, and her son Kyle, 14, were in a pickup truck with three other people when a tractor trailer heading west collided with several vehicles that were stopped near Dillon Road around 4:40 p.m., according to Ontario Provincial Police.

Provincial police have identified the mother and son from Amherstburg killed in a six-vehicle crash on Highway 401 near Chatham Sunday.

Lacie Brundritt, 42, and her son Kyle, 14, were in a pickup truck with two other people when a tractor trailer heading west collided with several vehicles that were stopped near Dillon Road around 4:40 p.m., according to Ontario Provincial Police.

The pair were pronounced dead at the crash site. The driver — a 39-year-old man — was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries, while a 12-year-old boy was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Traffic had been backed up at the time because of another collision. 

The highway between Bloomfield Road and Queens Line was closed for 11 hours, while police investigated.
