New breastfeeding app launches at University of Windsor

A new breastfeeding app designed at the University of Windsor will be launched Thursday.

The When You Need It (WYNI) a breastfeeding information app provides parents with answers to commonly asked breastfeeding questions and allows them to track feedings, diaper changes and records of their child’s growth.

The app is available for Android and iPhone devices. It can be downloaded free from Google Play and the App Store .

The app is interactive and said to be easy to use and is filled with pictures, diagrams and videos that provide a one-stop experience for the user.

The app also has a "get help" section with links to sources of additional community support.

It was created in partnership with the Building Blocks for Better Babies Program at the University of Windsor, the school's faculty of nursing, the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit and the university's school of computer science, with support from the Government of Ontario through Health Nexus.
