A division of the U.S. Coast Guard has allowed the public to take an aerial shipwreck tour of sorts.
During a routine patrol April 17, an aircrew from the U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Traverse City snapped several shots of ships sitting on the bottom of Lake Michigan.
The coast guard then posted the photos to the station's Facebook page Sunday, calling the gallery "Shipwreck Sunday."
The photos show the outline of ships resting in crystal clear, deep blue waters of northern Michigan, where the frigid water has a temperature of about 3 C right now.
The photos were taken along the shoreline of Michigan — between Sleeping Bear Point to Leland and up to Northport, about 440 km northwest of Detroit.
