Unifor marks Labour Day ahead of announcing Detroit Three target in contract talks
Union members are celebrating Labour Day with their annual parade in Windsor, one day before Unifor announces which Detroit Three automaker it will target in contract negotiations.
The parade route began at Unifor's union hall on Turner Road, snaking down Walker Road. Fiat Chrysler's Windsor Assembly Plant could be seen in the background for much of the parade.

Windsor Assembly is home to thousands of unionized autoworkers with Unifor Local 444 building minivans for Chrysler. Unifor also represents 1,300 unionized autoworkers at Ford Motor Co.'s operations in the city.
After the parade, labour leaders from across the city spoke at the Fogolar Furlan.
In his speech, Unifor Local 444 president Dino Chiodo, wouldn't provide any hints on whether the union would target Ford, General Motors or Fiat Chrysler in contract negotiations — but promised a strike if proposed contracts don't include new auto investment in Canada.
The union is threatening job action if it doesn't get an agreement before midnight on Sept. 19.
