Kitchener man arrested by Chatham-Kent police after reported altercation
The woman involved in the altercation has been located in good health
A man from Kitchener, Ont., was arrested by Chatham-Kent police after a reports of an altercation in Mississauga and dangerous driving in Chatham.
Peel Regional Police initially received a report of an altercation between a man and a woman in Mississauga on Tuesday. During the incident, a man was allegedly seen striking a woman and forcing her into a vehicle before leaving the area.
With information from Peel police, Chatham-Kent Police Service officers located a suspect vehicle in Chatham.
Police say the vehicle sped through traffic lights and was involved in a collision around 6:30 p.m. ET. The vehicle continue westbound until it stopped due to mechanical issues.
A male driver attempted to evade arrest after fleeing on foot, police say, but was located him on private property and arrested. He is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.
One man faces charges of flight from a police officer, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and failing to stop after an accident. He also faces charges of assault and forcible confinement once he's returned to Peel Regional Police custody.
The woman involved in the incident has been located in good health.
