Thick fog in parts of the region has led to school buses being cancelled in Windsor and Essex County for the Wednesday morning commute.

Transportation officials issued an alert just before 6 a.m., saying all service in the city and county was being called off.

However, they added, transportation is expected to resume in the afternoon.

There have been multiple school bus cancellations in the county earlier this fall.

As of 6:10 a.m., there were no cancellations for school buses in Chatham-Kent and Sarnia-Lambton.
