Flooding from high winds shuts down section of Erie Shore Drive in Chatham-Kent
No residents have been asked to evacuate and clay berms are guiding water into drains.
About 20 homes affected
People living in about 20 homes near Lake Erie aren't able to drive to their homes after flooding from high winds shut down a stretch of road in Chatham-Kent.
A portion of Erie Shore Drive, just west of Erieau, was shut down Tuesday afternoon as 35 km/h winds pushed water onto the properties.
No residents have been asked to evacuate, said Tim Dick, the municipality's director of drainage, asset and waste management.
Clay berms are being used on the south side of the road to guide water into drains north of the street.
Drivers are asked to avoid the area.
