Essex candidates debate climate change, pharmacare and taxes on Windsor Morning
Liberal, Conservative, NDP, Green party and People's Party candidates weigh in
Candidates from the country's leading political parties tackled Essex riding's — and the country's — most important issues.
You can replay moments from the debate on the video players below to hear from Liberal candidate Audrey Festeryga, Conservative candidate Christopher Lewis, NDP candidate Tracey Ramsey, Green party candidate Jennifer Alderson and People's Party candidate Bill Capes.
The whole debate is also available on the Windsor Morning website, found in two parts:
Here's a brief breakdown of what they discussed:
Climate change
Bill Capes, from the People's Party of Canada said the party was "opposite the standard."
Candidates from the other four parties detailed their plans to address an ongoing climate emergency.
Issues affecting Essex residents
According to Conservative Party candidate Chris Lewis, people he's spoken to are "just getting by."
A voice at the table
The Liberal and Conservative candidates both expressed concern from residents that having the NDP represent the region again would leave Essex without a voice at the table.
Professor Lydia Miljan joined CBC News at 6 host Chris Ensing to take a look at what the candidates were saying about an unrepresented riding.
The 'Ontario mess'
Both the Liberal and NDP candidates said the residents they've spoken to aren't differentiating between the provincial Progressive Conservative party and the federal Conservative party.
Miljan and Ensing also discussed how Ontario politics have a factor on the federal election.
