Enwin warns Windsor residents of water-filter scam
Scammers are posing as Enwin staff and door knocking in neighbourhoods throughout the city, telling residents they need to conduct on-site water tests.
Enwin does not do door-to-door sales visits, company officials explain
Enwin officials are warning residents about another water-filter scam that involves phony sales representatives targeting people in their homes.
The fraudsters are posing as Enwin staff and door knocking in neighbourhoods throughout the city, telling residents they need to conduct on-site water tests, according to a news release issued Friday.
Tests include a process that turns tap water red, indicating the need for a water filter that can be purchased immediately.
"These people do not represent the utility in any way," Enwin officials wrote in the news release. "They are using the Enwin name to gain access to the homes of unsuspecting individuals to sell merchandise that is not necessary for the safety of our local water supply."
