The cat that was tossed from a moving pickup truck near Chatham has been euthanized as result of its injuries, according to the Ontario SPCA.

"The cat was humanely euthanized today by a veterinarian due to the severe condition it was found in," said Alison Cross, with Ontario SPCA.

The cat was tossed from a single cab Chevrolet Duramax pickup truck Sunday evening just outside Dresden, according to Chatham-Kent police.

Severe injuries included a broken lower jaw and chipped teeth along with numerous scratches. Ontario's SPCA, which took over the investigation, said the cat was unable to have x-rays Monday and they were expected to try again Tuesday.

A witness to the incident said the cat was tossed from a late-model diesel truck with a loud exhaust, near McCreary Line and Dawn Valley Road. The vehicle had tinted windows and after-market tail lights.

The driver was last seen traveling towards Dresden.
