Amherstburg goalie savours time on ice with Carey Price
Catalin Morin entered the contest and wanted to win.
But it was hard to process what he was hearing when he got the call telling him that he had won a chance to hang out with Montreal Canadiens goalie Carey Price.
"I couldn't believe it at first," Morin told CBC Radio's Windsor Morning on Monday.
The 14-year-old from Amherstburg was getting the chance to spend a day training with Price.
For Morin, it was a dream come true. He had been looking up to Price since he first started out as a rookie in the NHL.
Morin said he's always admired Price's technical ability, as well as his knack for making big saves.
Asked if the encounter lived up to his expectations, Morin said "it most certainly did."
Morin just travelled to Kelowna, B.C., where he met Price and spent time on the ice with his idol, who passed on a few pointers and praises.
"Every now and then he said: 'You follow the puck well, nice glove save, flashing the leather,' just small stuff like that," said Morin, who also picked up some valuable tips from Price about his stick control.
He was among 10 young people who took part in the training day.
