2 Windsor residents killed in head-on crash on 401

A head-on crash on Highway 401 has left two people from Windsor dead.

The Ontario Provincial Police say that a westbound tractor-trailer crossed the median near Mull Road in Chatham-Kent on Saturday afternoon, colliding with a car going the other way.

A man and teenage girl in the car were killed in the crash. On Sunday police identified the deceased as Marc Lafontaine, 35, and Alyssa Smulders, 13, both of Windsor.

The man driving the truck was taken to hospital following the crash, but was later released.

The crash remains under investigation.
