More than 100 head of dairy cattle were killed in the massive fire at the Jobin Farms dairy operation on the 11th Concession in Tecumseh.
By the same token, more than 100 head of dairy cattle were saved from the fire.
Firefighters from Windsor, LaSalle, Amherstburg, Lakeshore and Essex all came to help battle the fire.
Some of the cows escaped the blaze but had to be shot by OPP officers later because they were too badly hurt.
Several buildings were destroyed in the $1-million fire.
Smoke from the fire could be seen from as far away as the CBC studios on Riverside Drive W.
Officials say the fire started when straw built up around a straw shedding machine in one of the barns at farm.
