More than 100 men arrested for 'purchasing prostituted children,' York police say

York police say more than 100 men have been arrested after a multi-year investigation into child sex trafficking.

Most arrests took place in York region north of Toronto

More than 100 men have been arrested for "purchasing prostituted children," York police announced in a news release Thursday.

In the statement, police said they have completed a multi-year operation that resulted in a large number of arrests.

Most of the arrests took place in York Region but the men who were arrested came from across the GTA and outside of Ontario, police said.

Police declined to provide further details, saying more would be revealed at a Friday morning news conference.

Const. Andy Pattenden credited investigators for their work.

"It's what they do and they're passionate about it. The team in our vice unit is second to none and they've been recognized for their efforts. It's the work that they do and it's challenging work and you're going to see some of the results of that work tomorrow," said Pattenden

The project was made possible by a grant from the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services, police said.
