Wyclef Jean brings the party to Nathan Phillips Square to close Parapan Am Games

International superstar Wyclef Jean, who opened the Panamania arts and culture festival last month, returns to Nathan Phillips Square tonight to perform at the closing ceremony.

Up-and-coming Bowmanville-based country music singer-songwriter Meghan Patrick shares the bill. Patrick, who signed a record deal with Warner Music this year, counts Bonnie Raitt, Emmylou Harris, and Aretha Franklin as her influences.

Jean, who was born in Haiti and lived in the projects in Brooklyn, rocketed to fame as a member of the hip-hop group The Fugees. His eclectic sound, which he calls "ecleftic," has resulted in him winning three Grammy Awards and receiving nominations for six. He's also a goodwill ambassador for Haiti and ran for president of the nation five years back.

The free event, which kicks off at 8 p.m., will also feature the Parade of Nations, the official handover of the Americas Paralympic Committee (APC) flag to the next Host City - Lima, Peru - and the extinguishing of the Parapan Am flame. Fireworks will help close out the event.

"After eight days of outstanding sport competition, it's time for us to host the final hurrah and celebrate the exceptional athletes of the Parapan Am Games," said Saäd Rafi, chief executive officer of the Toronto 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games Organizing Committee. "It will be a night that the athletes and Toronto will never forget."

You can watch a free live broadcast of the Parapan Am Game closing ceremony on Bay Street starting at 7:30. The concerts will begin at 8 and the night will end with a fireworks display.
