Peel Regional Police detectives say they are in the early stages of their investigation into the slaying of Amandeep Kaur Dhillon.

Dhillon, 22, was working in her family's store, Airport Foods, at about 10:30 a.m. on New Year's Day when she was attacked and killed.

A post-mortem examination found she died from a stab wound to the neck.

Dhillon was the mother of a young child who lives with family in India.

Her father-in-law was also injured at the store on Airport Road, but has been able to provide police with information. He remains in hospital.

Peel police have not released any information on suspects.

Const. Wayne Patterson said, "It is early in the investigation [but] we don't leave anything to chance. We will explore every avenue possible; whether it's domestic, whether it's robbery-related or break-in-related."
