Seven young people were arrested Friday night after police responded to a home invasion in Vaughan, Ont. that was still in progress when officers arrived.

One suspect is still at-large after fleeing while in handcuffs, York Regional Police say.

Officers were called about the home invasion shortly after 9 p.m. near Ventura Way and Beverley Glen Boulevard, says a news release.

When police arrived the home invasion was still in progress while two idling vehicles waited nearby.

The vehicles, which were later determined to be stolen, attempted to flee and crashed into police responding to the incident. The vehicles' occupants then tried to flee on foot, the news release says.

Police arrested four people from the fleeing vehicles but say one suspect who fled while handcuffed is still at-large.

Another three people were arrested within the residence where the home invasion happened.

One person was sent to hospital after being found inside the home with serious injuries.

Those charged in Friday's incident include a 13-year-old boy, four 17-year-old boys and two 18-year-old men.

The charges include robbery with a firearm, assault with a weapon, and disguise with intent.
