Twin panda cubs begin to open their adorable eyes at Toronto Zoo

The panda cubs will be able to see clearly soon now that they're eight weeks old.

New pictures and video released by the Toronto Zoo today show that the twins somehow continue to get even more adorable as the weeks pass and they've started opening their eyes.

Zoo staff say the cubs's eyes are now sensitive to both light and dark, but they can't see clearly yet. 

Both of the fluffy little pandas now weigh more than 2,000 grams and are about 48 centimetres tall from the tip of their heads to the tip of their tails.

The Zoo says because this remains a critical time for both the cubs and their mother Er Shun, they will continue to stay in the zoo's maternity den. But now visitors can occasionally see the new mom in her day room. Er Shun is going there occasionally for exercise and to eat bamboo. 

The twin cubs were the first-ever giant pandas born in Canada. 

All of the pandas, which are on loan to the zoo from China, will be at the Toronto Zoo until 2018, when they'll move to the Calgary Zoo for five years.
