Mayor John Tory will meet Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in Toronto Wednesday.

Tory tweeted the news Tuesday afternoon.

"I look forward to working with @JustinTrudeau and his team on behalf of the people of Toronto," Tory tweeted.

The mayor will meet privately with Trudeau for 45 minutes before the two hold a news conference.

It's not clear what's on the agenda, but last month the mayor said he is optimistic that Trudeau's government will follow through on the funding promised to big cities, including Toronto, during the federal election campaign to help build green infrastructure and improve transit.

Before his meeting at City Hall, Trudeau will be at the MaRS Discovery District where the Centre for Commercialization of Regenerative Medicine (CCRM) says "a major announcement with a global impact" will be made.

The Prime Minister will be joined by Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development,   CCRM president Michael May, and Elyse Allan, the president of GE Canada.
