Retail experts are warning Christmas shoppers to pick up the must-get items on their lists early, as many stores as taking a more cautious approach to stocking the season's most sought after gifts.

Just because Toronto has already had its first snowfall and December is only weeks away, that doesn't mean the holiday shopping season has started yet.

Or does it?

That all depends on if you are buying toys related to the movie Frozen.

Customer Lab CEO Jim Danahy says stores have been more cautious ordering stock and shoppers shouldn't wait too long to buy.

"If there's a particularly hot item that you like, electronics or toys in particular, get it now," Danahy warns. "By the middle of December, they'll have sold out."

He says it's up to shoppers to be strategic.
