Police say they are looking for a Florida man who allegedly tried to break into the building of a Toronto woman this month after harassing her for years with unwanted messages.

Toronto police allege the 39-year-old man, who resides in Florida, has been messaging the unnamed woman since 2021, trying to pursue a relationship with her, despite being asked to stop.

The woman reported the repeated unwanted messages in August, police say, the same month the man entered Canada from the United States.

In December, the man allegedly messaged the woman to say he was on her apartment block in the Dundas Street W. and Bloor Street W. area. This month, the man allegedly tried to break into the building where the woman resides.

Police are undertaking a criminal harassment investigation and are asking for the public's assistance in locating the suspect.

Police say the man has a thin build and slicked-back black hair. They believe the suspect is still in the Toronto area.
