Toronto Island Ferry stuck in ice Sunday
Toronto Fire responded to stuck ferry call, will be breaking ice on Lake Ontario all day Sunday.
The main ferry to Toronto Island was suspended for hours on Sunday because of cold weather.
The ferry got stuck in ice in the morning. It wasn't clear which direction it was going or how many passengers or crew were on board when fire crews were called for assistance after 8 a.m.
Toronto Fire responded with a fireboat to break the ice.
Fire crews intended to cut a perimeter around the ferry to break up the ice around the boat, then clear a path for it to reach its destination. The fire department said it would be breaking ice on the lake all day.
As of the supper hour, the ferry still wasn't operating.
