Toronto introduces sports-inspired condoms in time for Pan Am Games

'Let The Games Begin' is a message that appears on one of six condom wrappers unveiled by Toronto’s Public Health department Wednesday.

City's health department hopes campaign will help 'reinvigorate condom use'

"Let the games begin."

That tongue-in-cheek message appears on one of six condom wrappers unveiled by Toronto's Public Health department Wednesday.

"As we welcome thousands of visitors and athletes to the city this summer, we want to encourage healthy and safer sex," said Councillor Joe Mihevc, who launched the condomTO campaign at Yonge-Dundas Square.

The agency says it hopes condomTO "will help reinvigorate condom use and help to promote safer sex in Toronto."

Last June, the health department introduced a line of prophylactics that featured city street signs on the packaging. They were selected for their pun potential: Coxwell Avenue, Cummer Avenue and Wood Street.

The limited edition condoms will be available at several locations throughout the city, including mobile Toronto visitor information centres and Toronto Public Health's sexual health clinics.
