Torontonians share their David Bowie memories on Twitter
Iconic singer played many memorable shows in Toronto
David Bowie Forever.
That's the message painted in huge letters along Queen Street West by street artist Victor Fraser, one of many Torontonians mourning the British musical icon's death on Monday.
"The planet mourns the loss of an incredible, incredible man," Fraser told CBC News near his sidewalk painting on one of Toronto's most musical streets.
Bowie died "peacefully" Monday and was surrounded by family, said a written statement on the legendary musician's social media accounts.
My memory of David Bowie live is being at the CNE on a warm Toronto night for the Serious Moonlight Tour 1983. https://t.co/pMtLghgngR

August 5, 2002 was the last time I saw Bowie in concert at the Molson Amphitheatre in Toronto. He looked so happy. pic.twitter.com/n7e4FIST1z

The closest I got to seeing #Bowie perform live was in Toronto 1986/87 the Glass Spiders tour. I was the other side of a fence listening.

It seems odd that just yesterday I was talking to friends about seeing David Bowie in 1983 in Toronto. Wake today and he has passed. #sadDay

I was so thrilled to have #DavidBowie back, I didn't realize he was saying goodbye. #BlackstarAlbum

Some recalled seeing the Bowie exhibit at the Art Gallery of Ontario in the fall of 2013:
I took ms 7 to the Bowie exhibition in Toronto when she was 5. She was one of the only kids there. She walked around with her own headphones
