Toronto councillor Norm Kelly and Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill feud on Twitter

Norm Kelly, the Tweet-happy former deputy mayor of Toronto and current city councillor, has inserted himself into a battle of duelling rappers to defend hometown hero Drake.

Toronto city councillor Norm Kelly is now engaged in a full-fledged feud with Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill.

The dispute started when Meek Mill, a Philadelphia-born rapper whose name is Robert Williams, claimed on Twitter that Toronto's Drake doesn't write his own rap music.

Drake has yet to respond, but Kelly, who frequently tweets at Drake and references him on social media, issued the following salvo: "You're no longer welcome in Toronto, @MeekMill."

The Tweet made headlines in rap music magazines and around the world. In the hours after the tweet, Kelly was trending on Twitter.

The tweet barring Meek Mill from Toronto has been shared more than 50,000 times.

Meek Mill, coincidentally, will be in town touring with Nicki Minaj next week. Minaj is Drake's label-mate and Meek Mill's romantic partner.

The rapper did not take kindly to Coun. Kelly's suggestion that he stay out of Toronto, tweeting, "Aye white man @norm what gives you the audacity to tell me I can't come somewhere over me voicing my opinion! U sound like a thug lol."
