Toronto 2025: John Tory on this city's biggest challenge
Toronto needs to "embrace the diversity" of its multicultural population while being mindful of the gap between the haves and have-nots, according to Mayor John Tory, as it looks to the future and its development over the next ten years.
Tory, in a recent interview with CBC Toronto's Dwight Drummond, discussed the biggest challenges the city will face in 2025.
Torontonians must "address the challenge of making sure we embrace the diversity," Tory said.
"We [need to] respect the fact that some people might need a helping hand up, to get themselves firmly established here, and that we have to make sure we don't do the way other places have gone — where that gap between people who are in the inside and comfortable and those on the outside looking in, grows."
