A 17-year-old male remains in hospital in stable condition after a stabbing in downtown Toronto during Nuit Blanche Saturday night.

Toronto police said the male teenager was stabbed at Yonge and Shuter Streets just before midnight. The stabbing occurred as part of a fight and police said a group of men may be responsible.

Toronto paramedics said he was taken to a trauma centre in critical condition at 11:57 p.m.

Sandra McLeod, deputy commander of Toronto Paramedic Services, said paramedics were flagged at the intersection of Yonge and Shuter Streets.

"It was part of the Nuit Blanche celebration," she said.

Five or six males were seen running southbound on Yonge Street after the stabbing.

Police said no suspects have yet been arrested and officers continue to canvass the area.
