There's some new talk at Queen's Park about increasing highway speed limits.

Transportation minister Norm Sterling says he's prepared to "consider" the change, after figures were released that show Ontario has the second lowest rate of accidents in North America.

Sterling says many people are exceeding the current limits.

One senior OPP officer thinks any change would be a mistake. Senior Constable Al Mochner says upping the limits would be "lunacy" and result in more fatalities.
