SIU investigating after man jumps from moving police car

The province's Special Investigations Unit is investigating after a man jumped from a moving police car in Mississauga. 

According to Peel Regional Police the man had been arrested for theft and was being taken to 12 Division in a cruiser when he broke a window and jumped out. 

He landed on Mavis Road around Hillcrest Avenue. He was quickly re-apprehended and taken to hospital, police said. 

The SIU investigates all incidents involving police that result in death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
