Man injured in shooting outside Scarborough highrise building

Toronto police are investigating a shooting outside a Scarborough highrise apartment building that injured a man late Monday.

Shooting occurred in area of Lawrence Avenue East and Scarborough Golf Club Road

Toronto police are investigating a shooting outside a Scarborough highrise apartment building that injured a man late Monday.

The shooting occurred in the area of Lawrence Avenue East and Mossbank Drive, east of Scarborough Golf Club Road. Police were called to the scene at about 11:10 p.m.

When police arrived, they could not find a victim but they found several shell casings on the ground, according to Acting Staff Sgt. Richard Mackinnon of Toronto Police Service's 43 Division.

Police were told that a man, believed to be the victim of the shooting, later walked into a local hospital with a gunshot wound. He was shot in the buttocks area.

The man was transferred to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre for surgery, Mackinnon said. The man's injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

In a tweet, police said they received a report of a man fleeing in a black SUV.

No one has been arrested and no suspect description was available.
