A man is dead and his son is in custody following a stabbing at a Scarborough home Wednesday night, police say.

In a post to X Thursday morning, Toronto police said they responded to a report of a stabbing at a home near Finch Avenue East and McCowan Road around 11 p.m. Wednesday.

They say they found an injured man there, who would be pronounced dead at the scene. His 32-year-old son has been arrested, police say.

The homicide unit is investigating.

David Jagmohan, who lives on the street, said Thursday that the victim was a kind, outgoing neighbour. Jagmohan said the victim's family seemed equally agreeable, never showing any outward disagreements or hostility.

"It's a shock," Jagmohan said. "It's a loss for the neighbourhood because he was a really good man."
