2 teens charged in robbery of College Street marijuana dispensary
Police said the suspects brought a loaded gun and hockey bag to Green Buddha Medicinals
Toronto police have arrested two teen boys in connection with a robbery of a marijuana dispensary in the west end on Sunday night.
Const. Craig Brister, spokesperson for the Toronto Police Service, said police were called to Green Buddha Medicinals, 792 College St., east of Ossington Avenue, at about 9:40 p.m.
The teens, both from Toronto, are aged 19 and 17.
Brister said police believe that two suspects with disguises, including masks and gloves, entered the store. One was armed with a loaded gun while the other was carrying a hockey bag.
One pointed the gun at a clerk and demanded cash and marijuana.
No one injured
"While they were in the process of collecting whatever property they were going to take, the front entrance of the premises was locked by one of the victims in an attempt to flee," Brister said.
He said the clerk did leave as the suspects were putting items into the hockey bag and the pair ended up being locked inside the store. In an attempt to escape, one suspect shot at the front door several times.
Officers arrived and arrested the two teens.
Gun recovered
The 19-year-old has been charged with 10 offences, while the 17-year-old has been charged with eight offences. Most of the charges are robbery and firearm charges.
The pair were scheduled to appear in court on Monday for a bail hearing.
No one was injured, and police said a gun was recovered.
