Rob Ford says days of drinking, illegal behavior 'finished'

Toronto Mayor Rob Ford told CBC News that he is still sober and will "never" be caught doing anything illegal again.

When asked about his commitment to his sobriety Thursday, Ford said: "I haven't touched alcohol, anything at all."

"I don't know what more I can prove to you," Ford said. "You guys can follow me around, I think you have seen it. I know for a fact that you guys have been following me around, or people have. You can follow me to and from work all you want because I know people do that.

"You know what? You're never going to catch me at the liquor store, you're never going to catch me doing anything illegal. Those days are gone, finished."

The mayor added that he is consistently working out and aside from a small problem with his baby toe, he is "eating healthy and living a healthy life."

Ford spent two months in rehab earlier this year. When he returned, he admitted to having struggled with addiction for years and to having smoked crack cocaine.

The 45-year-old father of two is seeking a second term as mayor this fall. He is up against dozens of candidates in the Oct. 27 election that are vying for his job.
