Peel police arrest man in connection with fatal Brampton hit and run

Peel police have arrested a 61-year-old man just hours after a fatal collision involving a pedestrian in Brampton.

61-year-old charged with failure to remain at the scene of a collision causing death

Peel police have arrested a 61-year-old man just hours after a fatal collision involving a pedestrian in Brampton.

At approximately 6:25 a.m. Wednesday, a 21-year-old man was hit by a dump truck while crossing Steeles Avenue and Kennedy Road on foot in Brampton. Police say the driver fled the scene.

The pedestrian succumbed to his injuries and died in hospital, authorities confirmed. 

Police have charged Brampton resident Sultan Singh Bhamber, 61, with failure to remain at the scene of a collision causing death. He will appear in court on Dec. 21. 

The victim's name has not yet been made public.
