Pedestrian struck and killed in Dufferin and Eglinton area

Paramedics say a male pedestrian has been pronounced dead at the scene after he was struck and killed by a vehicle in the city's northwest end.

Paramedics say they were called to the area just before 7 a.m. Wednesday

Police say a 66-year-old man is dead after being hit by a van in the city's northwest end Wednesday morning.

Paramedics were called to Dynevor Road in the Dufferin Street and Eglinton Avenue area just before 7 a.m. and pronounced the man dead at the scene.

Police say the van struck the pedestrian as he was trying to cross the street.

Toronto police said the van's driver, 29, remained at the scene and is co-operating with police. 

The driver was not injured, paramedics say.
