The five-year plan by Waste Diversion Ontario plans to boost the number of places available for recycling old electronics.

But the plan costs $62 million — a tab that'll have to be picked up by consumers.

Canada's largest electronics companies will pay for the program up front, but they're expected to pass the costs on to shoppers.

Dalton Burger from Electronics Product Stewardship Canada says companies will likely bring in an "eco fee" — something shoppers in other provinces already pay.

The plan is being delivered to Ontario's Environment Ministry on Monday.
