Ontario sex ed changes prompt Toronto dad to keep kids home
Khalid Mahmood discusses his decision to pull his kids from school on Metro Morning
Khalid Mahmood plans to keep his children at home on Monday as part of an Ontario-wide protest against the province's new sexual education curriculum.
While he isn't part of the parents' group that organized the protest, Mahmood said he's taking part because he's uncomfortable with many aspects of what children are set to learn.
"We are sending our kids just to learn math, science and technology … we are not sending them to go on a different path," Mahmood said, adding he's concerned the new curriculum will make students question their gender identity.
Mahmood, who leads the Thorncliffe Parents' Association, spoke with Metro Morning about his decision in a video above.
It's unclear how many students will be kept out of their schools on Monday for the protest.
