Officer bitten by raccoon during animal distress call back on duty
Officials are waiting for test results to determine health of the raccoon
Toronto police say an officer that was bitten by a raccoon Monday is back on duty as officials await test results determining whether the raccoon was affected by rabies.
Police say the officer received a minor injury to his hand and was treated at hospital.
Police say they received an animal distress call at around noon Monday about a raccoon in the Sherboune Street and Howard Street area.
The officer was reportedly helping a business owner deal with the raccoon when he was bitten by the animal.
Police say it will be euthanized once the animal has been tested.
