Toronto police say that November is often the deadliest month of the year for pedestrians.
It's the month when we turn our clocks back, a time that police find themselves appealing to drivers and pedestrians to be extra careful.
"Last year, there were nine fatalities in November and we want to reduce that," said Const. Clint Stibbe in an interview with CBC News.
On Monday, police launched a seven-day pedestrian safety campaign that will see officers targeting school zones, places where pedestrians cross the road and places seniors frequent.
Toronto has seen 23 pedestrian fatalities so far this year. Nine of these people have been seniors.
