Multi-vehicle accident on 401 near Cobourg

Terrible winter driving conditions have caused many multi-vehicle collisions on Highway 401 near Cobourg, Ont.

Ontario Provincial Police say that approximately 30 vehicles have been involved in a series of collisions Saturday, resulting in the closure of Highway 401 eastbound between Port Hope and Cobourg.

At least two tractor trailers were involved as well as two fire trucks and one ambulance, which were also struck, several people have been taken to hospital but no serious injuries have been reported.

Motorists on Hwy 401 eastbound are being advised to find shelter due to closures and snow plows in the area near Northumberland County.

The OPP  strongly advise against unnecessary driving in such conditions.
