Toronto Police are searching for a driver who allegedly fled the scene of a collision that left a motorcyclist dead.

The crash happened near the intersection of St. Clair Avenue East and Danforth Road at approximately 6 a.m.

Paramedics found the male motorcyclist dead at the scene. They say he was in his 50s.

Late Wednesday, two motorcycle riders were also involved in a collision with a car in Brampton. Two people were taken to hospital as a result of that crash.

Earlier this week, a cyclist was killed near a protected bike lane in The Annex, while a pedestrian died following a hit and run near Dufferin Street and Briar Hill Avenue.

The deaths have prompted more calls for the city to enhance its Vision Zero plan, which aims to eliminate all traffic-related deaths in the city.

Toronto police statistics show 33 road users, a number that includes drivers, passengers, motorcyclists, cyclists and pedestrians, have died in Toronto in 2018.
