Man hurt by falling glass in downtown Toronto
Toronto police say a man was hurt by glass that fell from a downtown hotel late Tuesday morning.
Const. Wendy Drummond told CBC News that police received a call about the incident near University Avenue and Adelaide Street West shortly before noon.
The 53-year-old man was reportedly hit in the head by the glass. A Toronto EMS spokesperson said that one patient was transported to hospital with minor injuries.
The hotel, Shangri-La, is a hot spot for attendees of the Toronto International Film Festival, and has a popular noodle bar in its lobby. There is high foot traffic in the area surrounding the hotel.
Richard Cooke, the hotel's manager, told The Canadian Press that a small fragment of glass came off the building.
Glass also fell from the same hotel in January.
