The Toronto Maple Leafs rewarded fans both inside and outside the Air Canada Centre, taking both the win Monday night and edging past the Washington Capitals with a 2-1 lead in the series.

Fans seemed split on the game's saviour: Was it Tyler Bozak, who won the game with his pinpoint deflection in overtime? Or Dart Guy?

The underdogs

In either case, the tension was palpable both inside the arena and outside in a frenetic Maple Leaf Square.

The Leafs began behind the eight-ball. Washington scored two goals by 4:49 of the first period and then pushed themselves into a 3-1 lead part of the way through the second period.

But Nazem Kadri and William Nylander tied the game in the second period, eventually pushing the game into overtime.

While the players looked strong, their fans weren't sure they themselves could handle overtime.

But then they pulled through — and Twitter lost its mind.

Not to mention the crowd in real life.Â
