4 more charged in Mississauga car theft where man was struck by stolen Porsche
2 men, 2 youths face series of charges connected to brazen Sept. 6 theft caught on video
Peel police say they have arrested and charged four more people in connection with a vehicle theft caught on video where a man was struck with his own SUV in Mississauga earlier this month.
In a news release Friday, police said two men from Toronto, aged 36 and 21, face a number of charges, including possession of an automobile master key. The Criminal Code of Canada defines an automobile master key as an instrument designed or modified to operate the ignition or locks of a series of vehicles.
Two youths were similarly charged with possession of property obtained by crime, according to police. One of the youths also faces one count of failure to comply with bail conditions. The news release did not include their ages.
"Investigators believe these individuals to be part of an organized group responsible for various serious offences and anticipate laying further charges and identifying additional suspects," the release said.
The arrests come after the brazen daytime theft of a luxury Porsche Cayenne SUV in Mississauga on Sept. 6. During the theft, an 18-year-old Brampton woman slammed into the SUV's owner, who had listed the vehicle for sale on AutoTrader.
The shocking incident was captured on security video that was released publicly by police on Sept. 18 as investigators searched for the woman.
She turned herself into police the next day and was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation causing bodily harm and failure to remain after an accident causing bodily harm.
The woman also faces further charges brought by Toronto police related to a vehicle theft and attempted theft in the city.
The Porsche Cayenne stolen in Mississauga was recovered by police, as was a blue BMW X5 believed to have been involved in the theft. Police said the BMW had previously been reported stolen to Toronto police.
