Fans in all CFL colours converge on Toronto ahead of 104th Grey Cup
'Grey Cup Fun Police' say Toronto could give 'a little more love' to the CFL
Grey Cup fans from across Canada have converged on Toronto ahead of the big game on Sunday.
Football fans Corey Pusey and Dave Hanni, who call themselves the Grey Cup Fun Police, say Toronto needs to give "a little more love" to the 104th Grey Cup.
It's being held on Sunday at BMO Field in Toronto, with the kickoff at 6:30 p.m. The Ottawa Redblacks are taking on the Calgary Stampeders.
"When we walk down the street, we're not necessarily the strangest people in Toronto," Pusey said. "But for the few who do know what's going on here, they love it and it's a good time."
Hanni said Toronto is a big city with lots of professional sports events and the CFL is not getting the attention it could.
"You got the Jays, you got the Raptors, you got the Leafs that take over everything," Pusey said.
"It would just be nice if they would give a little more love to the CFL, especially when they are hosting the greatest outdoor event of the year."
Hanni said there wasn't really a welcoming party at Toronto's Pearson Airport. But he said it's still going to be a fun party.
"You still got to go," he said.
Meanwhile on Saturday, a street festival at Roundhouse Park on Bremner Boulevard drew fans in all colours of the Canadian Football League.
It featured a number of free activities for all ages. Fans of one team mingled with fans of another team.
Saskatchewan Roughriders fans faced off at an obstacle course against Ottawa Redblacks fans. Families in Montreal Alouettes touques tried to throw footballs further than each other.
Earlier, the Calgary Stampeders hosted a pancake breakfast.
Team parties have been set up at a number of bars across Toronto for Saturday night..
The festivities, including events at Metro Toronto Convention Centre, are all part of the Grey Cup street festival.
