Excavator used to smash into North York bank, steal ATM: police

Police are investigating after an excavator was used to break into a North York bank and steal an ATM early Tuesday morning.

Police say they responded to reports of an excavator smashing into the front of a TD bank in the area of Bathurst Street and Lawrence Avenue W. around 4:30 a.m.

Police said an ATM with an unknown quantity of cash was taken from the institution.

There was significant damage to the building and the excavator was left on scene. 

Anyone with more information on the incident is asked to contact police.
