Funerals held for Danforth shooting victims Julianna Kozis, Reese Fallon

It was a sombre day in two suburban neighbourhoods where funerals were held for the two people killed in a shooting rampage last weekend on Toronto's Danforth Avenue.

It was a sombre day in two suburban neighbourhoods where funerals were held for the two people killed in a shooting rampage last weekend on Toronto's Danforth Avenue. 

Church bells echoed through Markham, a city north of Toronto, as a funeral procession carrying a small white casket pulled up at the St. Panteleimon Greek Orthodox Church on Warden Avenue.

The casket was carrying the body of 10-year-old Julianna Kozis. 
Julianna's father, who friends say was injured in the leg during the July 22 shooting, was helped up the stairs by family members. 

A neighbour, Leslee Wells, described Julianna as "a very sweet little soul."

"When I was taking my dog for a walk, she would be dancing out in front of the house, not a care in the world," she previously told CBC News.

Not far away, in Scarborough, a mounted honour guard stood at attention as about 500 people, including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Toronto Mayor John Tory, entered Reese Fallon's funeral. 

The 18-year-old graduated from Toronto's Malvern Collegiate Institute last month and was weeks away from starting nursing studies at McMaster University in Hamilton. Friends remember her as a natural caregiver. 
The quote, "I think everybody should like everybody," attributed to Andy Warhol, was printed on the back of memorial cards handed out to the hundreds who attended a public viewing for Fallon on Sunday. 

"We wish our sweet angel eternal peace and light. We will never forget you for one moment," her family said in a statement released Saturday. 

Monday's funerals were both private events but mourners continue to pay tribute at a growing memorial on the Danforth. The prime minister also made an appearance to lay flowers at the fountain in Greektown.

Thirteen other people are still recovering from various degrees of injuries from that night after Faisal Hussain, 29, fired into restaurants and storefronts. Danielle Kane, a nursing student who rushed to help other victims, may end up losing her legs. 

​Hussain was found with a gunshot wound to his head after exchanging fire with police. A source revealed to CBC Toronto that he shot himself.
