Police across Ontario react to Dallas shootings
Police forces take to social media to voice solidarity with Dallas Police Department
Condolences are pouring in for the five police officers killed and seven who were injured after snipers opened fire on a Dallas, Texas, protest last night. Police from across Ontario are joining in the chorus of sympathy and offering their support.
Gunmen staged an "ambush-style" attack during a large protest over two recent fatal police shootings of black men in the U.S. — Philando Castile was shot and killed by a Minnesota Police officer on Wednesday, a day after Alton Sterling was fatally gunned down outside a convenience store in Louisiana.
Police say three suspects have been arrested and one suspect is dead in connection with the Dallas shooting. Chief David Brown said the shooters "planned to injure and kill as many officers as they could."
On Friday, Toronto Police Chief Mark Saunders took to Twitter this morning to send his "thoughts and prayers" to the victims and their families.
