Cyclist in his 50s dies after being hit by truck

A male cyclist in his 50s has died after being hit by a truck in the city's east end.

The intersection of Jones Avenue and Dundas Street East is closed for investigation

A male cyclist in his 50s has died after being hit by a truck at Jones Avenue and Dundas Street East. 

Toronto police say the man was pronounced dead in hospital. 

The collision happened at about 8:10 a.m., and intersection is closed for an investigation. 

Police say they are still determining if any charges will be laid against the driver of the truck. 

The incident comes just one day after the city launched an initiative to promote safer city streets for all road users. 

This is the second serious collision involving a cyclist in the last 24 hours.
